Tessa Marie Hoffman is a queer performer, vocalist, musician, actor, and educator local to Chicago, Illinois. With a master's degree in vocal performance and pedagogy, Tessa has spent the last ten + years working as a teaching artist for several reputable schools and theatre companies’ (Porchlight Music Theatre, School of Rock, Chicago High School of Performing Arts, etc.), while also maintaining her private voice studio, VOCAL VOLITION, for industry professionals.
As a student of voice, music, and theatre for over twenty years, Tessa has a wide range of technical skill pertaining to practice and performance techniques, with a focus on helping students find their authentic sound and personal attachment to artistry through science-based vocal technique, theatre training, body mapping, movement instruction, artistic collaboration, acting through song, group workshops, and performance practice. She believes engaging the human instrument as a whole (mind, body, voice, and soul) promotes critically thinking individuals who strive for personal advancement and growth rather than the illusion of perfection.
When not working on performances or teaching, Tessa spends her free time playing Dungeons and Dragons, video games, supporting theatre in Chicago, and singing karaoke.
“To sing is to bring to the surface all the depth of one’s being.” -Marty Rubin
